About Wei Torti

I live in the heart of Chevy Chase DC ANC 3/4G 05. It’s the neighborhood I walk every day. I am running for ANC Commissioner because I believe local government should serve the people—not the other way around. By law, the ANC carries “great weight” in bringing our voice directly to the highest levels of the DC government. I am running to represent your views, not special interests. Let’s work together to ensure our community’s concerns are heard and directly addressed.

As an architect for 27 years, I have spent my career dedicated to sustainable, walkable, and vibrant communities, with deep respect for the public realm and green spaces. I look at our streets, public spaces, and building proposals with a trained eye. Running a woman-owned design firm has taught me how to listen to people and find collaborative, constructive solution to problems.

I bring that exact skill and my expertise to the ANC: the unique ability to look at the proposal and see not just what’s being pitched, but what could actually work for the neighbors who will live with it. That’s exactly the skill SMD 05 needs on the Commission right now, as decisions get made that will outlast all of us.

After earning my Master of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and working across several firms, I founded my own practice.

My career as an architect has always been intertwined with a passion for education and mentorship. I have had the privilege of teaching architectural design as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Maryland, and serving as a guest design critic for design studios at the Catholic University of America, the University of Maryland, and the University of Notre Dame. These academic experiences taught me how to collaborate across diverse viewpoints and solve highly complex structural and community problems. For decades, my husband and I have served on Notre Dame’s Advisory Council, dedicating our time to listening to students’ needs and helping them reach their unique goals.

When I am not working or volunteering, our house is filled with the joy and energy of my step-grandchildren—a constant reminder of my passion to protect and improve our community for generations to come.
